What is a True North Family Weekend?

The True North Family Weekend is a ministry to your donor and their family, by helping them do something that in all likelihood no other ministry has ever done – help them discover their God-given life purpose and potential for changing the world! True North offers a guided discovery process of helping families identify their dreams, values, giftedness and purpose.

The Benefits of a True North Family Weekend

A weekend devoted to discovering your family purpose opens up discussions around family values, goals and dreams like no other experience can. This weekend provides an achievable goal – to write a family purpose statement. This unites parents and children through a process of reflection and discovery as they join together for activities, exercises and discussions that rarely happen in today’s busy homes.

Most fundraising events are focused on getting a gift in the short term – next month or current year.

True North is focused on helping donors accomplish life-long dreams. This re-frames the relationship that a ministry has with the donor, so that the giving relationship is viewed as a lifelong endeavor to achieve a share vision and mission.

A True North Family Weekend can reduce the amount of time required to cultivate relationships by opening up the discussion of family mission and dreams in a non-threatening environment. As this occurs, ministry representatives can encourage conversations and relationship cultivation.

Program

A True North Family weekend brings couples and families together in a guided conversation about family vision, values, giftedness, generosity and purpose. The weekend culminates with a session devoted to writing a family purpose statement, and then sharing that statement with weekend participants.

Participants

The True North Family Weekend is targeted to families with children ages 10 and older. For families with older children or grandchildren, the entire family clan will find this retreat a powerful experience.
